Best VFX Studios in Atlanta (2026)
10 Atlanta VFX studios working in 2026, from Trilith visualisation teams to Westside boutiques and global vendors' local offices

Introduction
Ten visual effects studios have an active Atlanta-area base in 2026, covering feature films, episodic television and commercials. Some are local offices of international vendors, others are boutiques founded in the city, and two specialise in previs and virtual production for the productions that shoot in Georgia.
The Georgia production base has been through a quieter period. The Wall Street Journal reported in August 2025 that Trilith Studios in Fayetteville was largely empty as productions moved elsewhere, although filming there had resumed on several projects by early 2026. VFX vendors that stayed have kept close to the stages and to Georgia's tax incentive, and several work on shows such as The Boys and The Walking Dead from Atlanta. Ownership has also shifted: Halon Entertainment returned to independence through a management buyout in 2026.
Every studio here showed an Atlanta-area base on a current page we checked. The industry saw many closures in 2025 and 2026, so a few well-known names that no longer list an Atlanta office are left out. The list is in no order of merit.

Visualisation studio · Trilith, Fayetteville · thethirdfloorinc.com
The Third Floor has specialised in previs, postvis and techvis since 2004, and its Atlanta office is in the Tech Hub at Trilith Studios. The company lists five Emmy Awards and more than 300 VES nominations, and its founders still work as artists and supervisors on projects.
Recent work includes Predator: Killer of Killers, its first fully animated feature, as well as House of the Dragon and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. It is the obvious call for productions shooting at Trilith that need shots planned before the stage is lit.
5. Halon Entertainment
Independent since a 2026 management buyout · Atlanta · halon.com
Halon has worked in visualisation for more than two decades and runs studios in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Glasgow. It was part of NEP Group until 2026, when CEO Christopher Ferriter led a management buyout that returned it to independence.
Services cover previs, techvis and postvis, a virtual art department, virtual production and animation. Credits include The Mandalorian, The Batman, Aquaman and John Wick, and the studio also works on game cinematics for clients such as Epic Games and 2K.

Founder-led boutique · Atlanta · suplexfx.com
Suplex FX is a post-production VFX boutique in Atlanta founded by twin brothers Joe and Steve DiNozzi. It offers 2D and 3D compositing, digital cosmetics, matte painting, concept work and on-set supervision.

10. Stargate Studios
Founded by Sam Nicholson ASC · Atlanta · stargatestudios.net
Stargate Studios runs sites in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Malta, Bogotá, New York and Toronto, and uses them to spread work across rebates and time zones. Its best-known Georgia credit is The Walking Dead, which it worked on for seven seasons.
The studio has also built a virtual production practice over the past six years, supplying content and on-set playback for series and films including The Lincoln Lawyer, Station 19, Your Honor and The Idol. Its head office is in South Pasadena, so confirm who will supervise from Atlanta.
What to look for in an Atlanta VFX studio
Start with where the work will be done. Several studios on this list are Atlanta offices of companies with large teams in Canada or India, which brings capacity and follow-the-sun scheduling. Smaller local boutiques offer more direct access to the artists. Either can work, but ask how many shots will be produced in Georgia, since that can affect what qualifies for the state's incentive.
Match the studio to the stage of production. The Third Floor and Halon plan shots in previs and support virtual production, while Spin, BOT VFX and FOLKS deliver final shots at scale. Boutiques such as Suplex and Splice handle the cleanup, compositing and digital cosmetics that make up much of an episodic shot list.
Check security and delivery standards early. Streamers expect vendors to handle unreleased footage under recognised security programmes such as TPN, and to deliver to agreed specifications. Ask about on-set supervision too, as a supervisor at Trilith or on location in Atlanta can save rework later.
Finally, look at how shots move between production and vendor. Plates, renders and versions pile up quickly, and notes scattered across email make it hard to see which version is approved. Studios with one clear place for shot review, and a shared record of what changed, keep schedules more predictable.
How Fabric helps VFX teams
Fabric gives a VFX team one workspace for plates, renders, references and production notes, with AI search across all of it. Heavy files sit in Fabric's cloud drive, which streams them on demand so they take no local disk space, and shared team folders always show the latest versions. There is more on this in why your rendering files need a home.
Search works by meaning across documents, images, PDFs and transcribed recordings, so a supervisor's spoken notes from a spotting session can be found by timestamp. When an artist needs reference for a look, similar search finds images close in composition, colour and subject.
For shot tracking, any folder can become a kanban board whose cards are the files themselves, which suits a shot list moving from blocking to final. Production and clients can leave threaded comments on any file through a shared link without signing up. Timestamped comments and drawing on video and images are coming soon to annotations; today, highlights and comments work on PDFs and documents such as breakdowns and bid sheets.
To deliver to a production, a folder can be published as a web page with password protection, and link analytics shows when each named recipient opened it. Files are protected with AES-256 encryption, and Fabric is CASA Tier 2 compliant; whether that meets a particular studio's security requirements is a question for its own security review.
Password protection and link analytics are included on Pro and Team plans. See plans for teams.
