Introduction
New York is home to many of the commercial production companies that agencies and brands hire for TV spots, branded films and music videos. The 12 companies below were chosen for their director rosters, recent work, and 2025 and 2026 recognition.
Most of them run New York, Los Angeles and London as one business, with directors and producers moving between offices. The past year brought a few notable shifts. Smuggler joined The Independents, part of Media Communications Group, in September 2026. Hungry Man placed fourth on Ad Age's 2026 production company list, and Epoch Films signed the directing collective Flair in March 2026 to add AI filmmaking to its offer. Several well-known names, including Biscuit Filmworks and MJZ, now list only Los Angeles and London offices.
Every company here lists an active New York office in 2026. The list runs in no fixed order of merit, since the right partner depends on the director you want, the budget and the type of work.

What to look for in a New York video production company
Start with the director. A production company's value sits mainly in its roster, so shortlist the directors whose reels match your brief, then check which company represents them in the US. Many directors are represented by different companies in different regions.
Ask who will produce the job day to day. The executive producer and line producer shape the budget, the crew and the shoot as much as the director does. For New York shoots, ask about permits, union crews and how the company handles location work across the five boroughs.
Get the bid in a standard format. Most New York companies bid on the AICP form, which makes it easier to compare fees, crew costs, post-production and contingency line by line. Agree what is included in post, and how many rounds of edits, before the shoot is booked.
Finally, ask how footage and cuts will move between the set, the edit and the client. A single commercial can produce terabytes of rushes, and review rounds often involve people in several cities. A clear plan for storage, version control and approvals saves days at the end of a job.
How Fabric helps video production teams
Fabric gives a production team one workspace for footage, edits, treatments and client feedback, with AI search across all of it. The setup for commercial production keeps each job in one place, from treatment and boards to cuts and final delivery.
Large media files sit in Fabric's cloud drive, which streams files on demand so they take no local disk space. Editors can open heavy files, including video projects, without waiting for a full download, which is useful when editing without filling your SSD. Uploaded video and audio are transcribed, so search can find a line of dialogue and jump to its timestamp. Similar search helps locate matching shots and b-roll by composition, colour and subject.
For remote review and delivery, a cut or a folder of deliverables can be shared through a link that clients open without signing up, and they can leave threaded comments on any file. Deliveries can be published as a web page with password protection, and link analytics shows when each named recipient opened it. Timestamped comments and drawing on video are coming soon. There is more on this in collaborating on a video project remotely and Fabric's guide to review and approval.
On Team plans, self-writing docs can keep a page for each client up to date from meetings, Slack and the workspace, covering decisions, deliverables and open items.
Password protection and link analytics are included on Pro and Team plans, and self-writing docs on Team plans. See plans for teams.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best video production company in New York?
It depends on the director and the type of work. On 2026 recognition, Hungry Man placed fourth on Ad Age's global production company list, Smuggler won a Cannes Lions Grand Prix for The Ordinary, and m ss ng p eces was the 2025 Webby Production Company of the Year.
How much does a commercial shoot in New York cost?
Budgets vary widely with the director, crew size, locations, talent and post-production. Most production companies bid on the AICP form, so ask two or three companies to bid on the same board and compare them line by line.
Do production companies hire the director, or do I?
Production companies represent directors and produce their jobs. An agency or brand usually picks the director first, and the company that represents that director in the US then bids for and produces the work.
Does a production company handle editing and visual effects?
Some do, but many commercials are cut at a separate editorial house and finished at a post or VFX company. Ask early who will edit and finish the job. For finishing partners, see the best VFX studios in New York.
Which of these companies also make film and TV?
Several do. Anonymous Content, RadicalMedia, Moxie Pictures and Park Pictures all produce or represent directors working in series and features, and Smuggler and Hungry Man have entertainment arms.
