13 New York agencies for social-first creative, creator partnerships and community work, checked against their 2026 activity
Log in

Introduction
New York is the main US base for social-first, creator and influencer agencies, and the 13 below are the ones we would shortlist in 2026. They were picked for recent work, 2025 and 2026 recognition, and the brands that rely on them.
The category has been consolidating quickly. Accenture agreed in June 2026 to buy the creator agency Whalar for Accenture Song, WPP has folded Obviously and Village Marketing into its network, and Orchestra bought Small Girls PR at the end of 2024. Independents are still doing well: Adweek named Billion Dollar Boy its 2025 Social/Influencer Agency of the Year, and Day One Agency grew net revenue to $51 million in 2025 without outside ownership.
Every agency here has an active New York presence in 2026. The list is in no fixed order of merit. Some firms lead with organic social and community management, others with creator partnerships or earned media, so the right one depends on what you need from social.
The best social media agencies in New York
1. Billion Dollar Boy
Part of The BDB Group · Tribeca · billiondollarboy.com
Billion Dollar Boy was founded in 2014 as one of the first agencies built around influencer marketing, and its office at 122 Hudson Street runs the US business. Adweek named it Social/Influencer Agency of the Year in 2025, citing revenue growth of 48% and a network of more than 2,500 creators across 42 markets. It also featured in Ad Age's 2026 A-List.
Recent client wins include Crocs, Burberry, Ikea, Unilever Foods, adidas and Sephora. For Burberry it commissioned eight creators from outside fashion to reinterpret the Rocking Horse bag. Its campaigns have won at Cannes Lions, the Webby Awards and the Shorty Awards, and it publishes an annual trends report, Think Forward. The North American team numbers close to 200 people across New York, Los Angeles and Toronto, with a separate sports practice, We Are Social Sport.
3. VaynerMedia

It made Adweek's 2025 Agency of the Year shortlist, and New York is the lead office in a network that runs from Chattanooga to Singapore.
In 2025 JCPenney named it social media and influencer marketing agency of record, H&R Block made it media agency of record, and PepsiCo Beverages US became the founding client of its Vayner Co-Lab model. 5. Praytell
Part of Project Worldwide · Chelsea · praytellagency.com
Andy Pray founded Praytell in Brooklyn in 2012, and its US headquarters is now on West 15th Street. Beth Cleveland became CEO in August 2025. In January 2025 the agency combined media, creators and social into one department, Centers of Influence, which it expanded again in September 2026 with senior hires in creator marketing and media. Provoke Media named it one of the 100 best agencies in the US in 2026.
Clients include Burger King, Stanley 1913, Peet's Coffee, Destination Canada and Clairol. Therabody appointed it US PR agency of record in March 2026 and Arc'teryx followed in June. 6. Small Girls PR
Part of Orchestra · New York · smallgirlspr.com
Mallory Blair and Bianca Caampued founded Small Girls PR in 2010. It combines earned media, influencer marketing and experiential activations, and has built a reputation for campaigns that spread without paid support. It is also MGM Resorts' influencer agency of record, and other clients include Coca-Cola, Disney, Microsoft and A24.
8. Obviously
Part of WPP · New York · obvious.ly
Mae Karwowski founded Obviously, and she still leads it. The agency is headquartered in New York, with teams in San Francisco and Paris, and WPP bought it in March 2023, placing it within what is now VML. It is known for proprietary software that finds creators and measures results, which suits brands running large or always-on programmes.
Clients include Ulta, Converse, Google, Amazon, Panda Express, Lyft and Campbell's. Typical work covers ambassador programmes, product seeding and quick-turn creator content, reported through the agency's own dashboards.
9. Village Marketing
Part of WPP · New York · villagemarketing.com
Vickie Segar started Village Marketing at her kitchen table in Brooklyn in 2013. WPP acquired it in 2022, when it had around 200 staff, and it has run influencer campaigns for clients ranging from consumer brands to the Obama and Biden campaigns.
The agency works with Coca-Cola, HelloFresh, Mars, Unilever, Warby Parker, Necessaire and the NWSL. Its services run from creator commerce and affiliate programmes to paid ambassadors, gifting and events, so it fits brands that want creators tied to sales.
10. Whalar
Being acquired by Accenture Song · New York · whalar.com
Whalar is a creator and social agency founded by Neil Waller and James Street. It has managed more than $600 million in creator campaigns across 40 countries. The deal was still subject to closing conditions when announced.
Clients include Nike, TikTok, EA Sports, the NFL, Disney, Hyatt and Unilever. Whalar Group kept The Lighthouse, which opened a creator campus in a former pencil factory in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, in November 2025. Brands starting a long engagement should ask how the Accenture integration will affect their team.
11. Socialfly
Independent · Chelsea · socialflyny.com
Socialfly is a female-founded and led agency on West 29th Street that handles social strategy, content production, community management, paid social and influencer work. It has twice appeared on the Inc. 5000, made Adweek's list of fastest growing agencies, and won Shorty and Vega awards.
Clients include Max, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, DevaCurl, Weleda, SlimFast and Conair. It is a good fit for brands that want a team to run their channels day to day, rather than a creator-led campaign shop.
12. The Digital Dept.
Part of Dolphin Entertainment · New York · thedigitaldept.com
The Digital Dept. is the creator business of Dolphin Entertainment, led by co-CEOs Ali Grant and Sarah Boyd. It brings creative, influencer partnerships, media buying, UGC production and experiential work into one team, and it also manages creators directly.
In August 2026 it reported a talent roster of 380 creators, a 45% rise in headcount to 80, and new offices in Dallas and Boston alongside New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Nashville. Managed talent includes Christy Carlson Romano and Audrina Patridge, which gives brand clients direct access to those creators.
13. JUV Consulting
Part of UTA · New York · juvconsulting.com
JUV Consulting is a Gen Z marketing and strategy firm founded by Ziad Ahmed. UTA acquired it in March 2024 and runs it as the NextGen practice of UTA Marketing, with teams in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
Clients include Google, Unilever, Converse, e.l.f. Beauty and Lionsgate. It is more strategic than most firms here, and brands often use it to test ideas with young audiences before handing execution to a larger agency.
What to look for in a New York social media agency
Decide first what kind of social you need. Some agencies on this list run channels and communities every day, others build creator programmes, and others use social to drive earned media. Many claim all three, so ask for case studies in the one that matters most to you.
Ask how creators are found, paid and measured. Agencies with their own talent rosters, such as Viral Nation and The Digital Dept., can move fast with familiar faces, while agencies without one may search more widely. Neither is better by default. Ask for results reported against business measures you agreed at the start, as well as views and engagement.
Check ownership and stability. In 2025 and 2026 several creator agencies were bought by holding companies, consultancies and private equity backed groups. A sale can bring more resources, and it can also change teams and priorities, so ask who will run your account after any deal closes.
Finally, look at how content gets approved. Social teams produce a high volume of short video, captions and creator drafts, often on tight deadlines. An agency with a clear review process, and one place where clients can see the latest cut, will get more posts out on time and lose fewer to version confusion.
How Fabric helps social media agency teams
Fabric gives a social team one workspace for raw footage, creator deliverables, briefs and client feedback, with AI search across all of it. The agency setup keeps a space per client, and the social media content creation setup shows how teams arrange shoots, edits and posting plans within it.
Video and creator files sit in Fabric's cloud drive, which streams on demand so files take no local disk space and editors can open heavy footage without a full download. Uploaded video and audio are transcribed automatically, so a search for a phrase a creator said lands on the right timestamp.
For content calendars, any folder can become a Kanban board whose cards are the files themselves, which suits a pipeline from draft to approved to posted. There is more on this in content planning with Fabric.
Clients can leave threaded comments through a shared link without signing up, and link analytics shows when each named recipient opened a review link. Timestamped comments on video are coming soon. The review and approval guide covers how agencies run approval rounds today.
Link analytics is included on Pro and Team plans, and Team plans add self-writing client docs. See plans for teams.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best social media agency in New York?
It depends on the job. On 2025 and 2026 recognition, Billion Dollar Boy was Adweek's Social/Influencer Agency of the Year, Day One Agency won PRWeek's Outstanding Midsize Agency award, and VaynerMedia made Adweek's Agency of the Year shortlist.
What is the difference between a social media agency and an influencer agency?
A social media agency usually plans and runs a brand's own channels, including content, community management and paid social. An influencer agency builds campaigns with outside creators. Many New York firms now do both, though most lead with one.
How much does a social media agency in New York cost?
Most work on monthly retainers or project fees, and creator fees are often billed on top. Ask agencies to separate their own fees from creator payments and paid media so you can compare proposals fairly.
What happened to Whalar?
Accenture agreed in June 2026 to acquire Whalar for Accenture Song, with its co-CEOs staying on. Whalar Group kept its other businesses, including The Lighthouse creator campus in Brooklyn.
Should I hire a social agency or a content studio?
A social agency handles strategy, posting and community as well as content. If you already have a social team and only need more video or photography, a New York content studio may be the better fit.
