Create, autofill, and export Canva designs from your content in Fabric.
Powered by Zapier.
Canva is an online design platform for social posts, presentations, documents, videos and print. Teams use it to produce on-brand graphics quickly, often from shared brand templates. The slow part is the repetition: making the tenth version of a template, exporting files, moving designs into the right folder. This connection lets Fabric's assistant handle that for you, in plain language.
Once Canva is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can create, fill and export designs from a simple request.
Fill brand templates with your content. Autofill Design From Brand Template takes a brand template and fills it with the text and images you give it, so a quote card, event banner or product graphic can be produced from a line in your notes. This depends on your Canva plan including brand templates and autofill.
Create and find designs. Create Design starts a new design, Find Design locates an existing one, and Find or Create Design checks for a design before making a new one. Move Folder Item files designs into the right folder.
Bring assets in. Upload Asset adds an image or other file to your Canva uploads, and Import Design brings in a file to edit as a Canva design. If your creative assets live in Fabric, the assistant can move the ones you need into Canva.
Export finished work. Export Design produces a downloadable file of a design. Get Design Export Job, Get Design Autofill Job, Get Design Import Job and Get Asset Upload Job check on those jobs while Canva processes them. API Request (Beta) reaches the Canva API for anything else.
The assistant works from your instructions, and finding designs never changes anything. It confirms with you before acting on anything you have not clearly asked for, unless you've told it not to for a particular task.
When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as producing the week's social graphics from a content plan in Fabric.
Connecting Canva also adds keyword search over your designs from Fabric's main search, so a design is findable alongside the rest of your library.
Content creators turn a list of quotes in Fabric into a set of branded social graphics with one request.
Marketing teams produce event banners from the brand template and export them for the website.
Creative teams upload approved photography from Fabric into Canva and file the finished designs in the campaign folder.
Small businesses keep their brand guidelines in Fabric and produce on-brand graphics from templates without opening the editor.
What does the Canva connection do?
It lets Fabric's assistant create, find, import and export Canva designs, fill brand templates, upload assets and organize folders, and it adds keyword search over your designs in Fabric.
Can I create Canva designs with AI?
Yes. Ask the assistant to create a design, or to fill a brand template with your content using Autofill Design From Brand Template.
What do I need for brand template autofill?
Autofill uses Canva brand templates, so it depends on your Canva plan including brand templates and autofill.
Can it export my designs?
Yes. Export Design produces a file of the design, and Get Design Export Job tracks the export until it is ready.
Can it upload images to Canva?
Yes. Upload Asset adds images and files to your Canva uploads.
Can it edit the layout of an existing design?
Not directly. The connection creates, fills, imports, exports and organizes designs. Detailed editing still happens in Canva.
Does the assistant change my designs on its own?
No. It acts on your instructions.
Is my Canva data secure?
Everything in Fabric is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the connection acts on your account with your authorization. See the privacy and security guide.
Does this work through MCP or the API?
Fabric also exposes your library and connected tools to external AI through its MCP server and API. This connection is the built-in way for Fabric's own assistant to work with Canva.
Does Fabric work with other design tools?
Yes. You can also connect Figma, Google Drive and Dropbox.
Fabric is an AI workspace for your projects, ideas, and files.
Save anything – PDFs, images, links, notes, voice memos, videos – and search across all of it by meaning, not just keywords. Think visually on an infinite canvas, connect your tools like Gmail, Google Drive, Notion, and Figma, and work alongside a personal AI assistant that knows your work, remembers your context, and gets smarter the more you use it.
Available on web, iOS, Android, and desktop.
