Find, create and update Jira Server and Data Center issues.
Powered by Zapier.
Jira Software Server is the self managed edition of Atlassian's Jira for planning and tracking software work, used by teams that run Jira on their own infrastructure, including Data Center. Writing up issues and keeping them current is a daily job. This connection lets Fabric's assistant handle it for you, in plain language.
Once Jira Software Server is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can work with your issues from a simple request.
Find issues. Find Issue looks one up, Find Issue (Via JQL) runs a JQL query, and Find User finds a teammate. Ask what is still open in the current sprint and get the list back in Fabric.
Create and update issues. Create Issue adds an issue with its details, and Update Issue changes status, assignee or fields. Bugs written up from a customer call in Fabric can become issues in one request.
Collaborate. Add Comment to Issue adds context, Attach File to Issue adds a file, Link Issues connects related work, and Add Watcher to Issue keeps people informed. API Request (Beta) reaches the Jira API for anything else.
The assistant works from your instructions, and it confirms with you before creating or changing issues, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Finding issues never changes anything.
When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as a Friday summary of issues closed this week. The connection also includes events, such as New Issue, New Issue (Via JQL), Updated Issue and New Project, which can start an automation.
Connecting Jira Software Server also adds keyword search over your Jira records from Fabric's main search.
Product managers turn a spec into issues.
Developers find an issue with JQL and add a comment with a fix.
Engineering teams link related bugs after triage.
Support engineers attach logs to the issue they belong to.
What does the Jira Software Server connection do?
It lets Fabric's assistant find issues and users, run JQL, create and update issues, add comments, attachments, links and watchers, and it adds keyword search over Jira in Fabric.
Does it work with Jira Data Center?
Yes. It is for Jira Software Server and Data Center.
Can I create Jira issues with AI?
Yes. Share your notes and the assistant creates the issues, after you confirm.
Can it run a JQL query?
Yes. Find Issue (Via JQL) runs one.
Can it update an issue?
Yes. Update Issue changes its fields.
What happens when a new issue is created?
New Issue is an event in the connection, and it can start an automation, such as posting it to your team chat.
Is my data secure?
Everything in Fabric is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the connection acts on your instance with your authorization. See the privacy and security guide.
Does Fabric work with other development tools?
Fabric is an AI workspace for your projects, ideas, and files.
Save anything – PDFs, images, links, notes, voice memos, videos – and search across all of it by meaning, not just keywords. Think visually on an infinite canvas, connect your tools like Gmail, Google Drive, Notion, and Figma, and work alongside a personal AI assistant that knows your work, remembers your context, and gets smarter the more you use it.
Available on web, iOS, Android, and desktop.
