Magic rename
Fabric can now generate a name for any file or note – simply click in the title box, and click "Name this for me".
Fabric will consider the contents of the file and any relevant metadata, and then create a name for you, helping you easily find it again, and saving time.
Sometime it's hard to think of a good title! Not any more.

Tag and location suggestions
One of our early steps towards self-organization – Fabric now suggests what tags are most relevant to any newly created item, and where might be best to save it within Fabric.
It does this by analyzing the content and deciding what would be the most relevant options – and if none exist, it will suggest new ones.
This helps make intentional organization rapid and precise, with Fabric helping you save time with every file, note or link.

Info panel
Introducing, the info panel.
See the attributes and info of any file, note or link you've added to your Fabric.
For all files, we now show the full filesystem path, created and modified date, and file size.
This also includes type-specific info, for example, visual attributes for images and video, like resolution, colour profile and more.

Export your data
You can now export the contents of any folder or space with just a click, or even at the level of your entire account.
All your data is entirely portable, and you have full ownership and autonomy over it – as it should be.

Android screenshots
A much requested feature, we've added Android screenshot sync – the equivalent to iOS screenshot sync.
You can now connect your Android screenshots and they'll sync into Fabric and be analysed without any further effort – it all happens automatically, every time you take a screenshot.

New preview cards
We heard your feedback!
And we've redesigned Fabric's grid cards in several ways:
For visual content, the entire image is within view and unchanged in its original aspect ratio, making it easier to identify and a better representation of the content.
You can now see the tags, filename and filesystem path for each item, making items easier to identify and work with.
You can toggle on and off the various levels of detail, customising the view – more info dense if that's useful, or more minimal if that's cleaner for your purpose.

Assistant V2
We've rebuilt how Fabric's assistant works, making it more faster, more precise and more reliable.
This improvement means that the assistant stays with you as you move throughout Fabric, maintaining a useful memory of the conversation and as you go about your work or task.
This also sets the foundation for a lot of functionality and upgrades in the near future.

Scope switcher
You can now change the focus of a conversation with Fabric's assistant at any point, from the current file within view, to the containing folder/space, or even everything in your Fabric.
Depending on the context, Fabric behaves more as a search assistant or as a thinking companion for the current document.

Faster notes
Notes are now 3x faster to create inside Fabric, and instant to reopen
We've rebuilt how Fabric notes work – making them far faster than Notion or similar note apps, as well as more reliable than ever.

The spaces screen now has a dedicated search, helping you find the space you're looking for without awkward scrolling around
In hindsight, we should've added this long ago... but it's here now

Speed and performance updates
We've made the way that Fabric apps update much faster and lighter – so the app is a breeze to hop around in and explore, and it's much lighter on your CPU and battery :)
Much more to come here, so watch this space.

Search history
Your Fabric searches now have history – making it easy to retrace your steps or jump back into a recent query.
The last 10 completed searches will appear on your search screen as quick link (you can also clear them).
Now, if there's a search you regularly do (for your wifi password for example), it's more convenient than ever!

Connections screen
We've added a dedicated screen for data connections, putting them all in one view for easy access so you can explore your data from 3rd party sources in just a click.
On this new screen, you can see the status of each connection, and remove the connection if no longer wanted.

Import your bookmarks from other apps
Many asked for the ability to get their data from other popular apps into Fabric – and now you can. We're starting off with the ability to import from all the most popular bookmarking apps:
Pocket
Raindrop
Google Chrome
Safari
Firefox
Microsoft Edge
Just export from any one of the above, click on Import (on the Fabric homescreen), and we'll turn them into Fabric bookmarks – with all the goodies you expect in Fabric: preview images, AI search, comments, AI assistant and more. Many more imports to come.

Private tags
Tags are a great way to connect files and content across different spaces and folders. Anything can be tagged, and you can add as many as you like to something.
See all items with the same tag in a single view. Organise by category, or just label things in a standardized way.
It's a powerful way to organize, think and categorize.
And even if you tagged a shared item, your tags are always private to you – it's your personalized second brain.

New PDF explorer + search UI updates
We’ve rolled out a new native viewer for PDFs, with powerful zoom, improved highlighting, page tracking and more – it's now the best way to review your PDFs, and it's there built straight into Fabric!
In addition, we're beginning a major overhaul of our search experience, beginning by making our global search an overlay that can be accessed from anywhere.

Multiplayer notepads + image embedding support
We’ve rolled out multiplayer documents, turning every note into a real-time collaboration space – with shared multiplayer cursors and edit synchronisation. Write, think, and discuss together.
In addition, we've added text editor support for uploading/dropping images, for a complete collaboration experience.
This makes Fabric a better tool for writing documentation, doing creative work, planning, or keeping a company wiki.

Link to an expanded entity
Easily share a specific item within a shared space.
Now all opened cards have a shareable state – so just paste the URL to a teammate or friend (that has access to the same space) to show them the same thing.

Improved list UI, infinite loader
We've updated the list UI to be cleaner and easier to visually scan at all dimensions. Labels, public sharing and comments are all handled better visually.
And we've added an infinite loader so that it's more clear when there is content within the folder/space to see, and that it's still loading. (Before this, it wasn't as obvious as it should be).
Jan 9, 2024
Mobile swipe between items
Smoothly hop between items within a folder or space by swiping horizontally, making it easy to quickly review or browse a set of items with one hand. This makes Fabric feel much more mobile-native.

New UI for spaces
We've added a new UI for the overview of all of your spaces, making it more modern and minimal. We've also added a list view so that it's easier to see all of your spaces in a single view and find what you're looking for.
Other improvements include: making multi-select more performant, and UI improvements to navigation and other fundamentals like the context menu.
