Find, create, and update items, and get status from your monday.com boards.
Powered by Zapier.
monday.com is a work management platform where teams run projects on boards made of items, columns and groups. It is flexible enough to hold a product roadmap, a content calendar or a client pipeline, which also means a lot of time goes into keeping boards current and checking where things stand. This connection lets Fabric's assistant read and change your boards for you, in plain language.
Once monday.com is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can work on your boards from a simple request.
Find out where work stands. Find Items, Find Subitems and Find User by Name locate the work and the people, and Get Board Values, Get Column Values, Get Group Details, Get User Details and Get File Column Values read the detail. Ask which items on the launch board are stuck and who owns them, and you get the answer without filtering views by hand.
Turn plans into items. Create Item, Create Subitem, Create Group, Create Column and Create Board build out a board from a plan you describe or from meeting notes you already keep in Fabric. Duplicate Item copies an item that is set up the way you like, and Create Update posts context on an item so the discussion stays with the work.
Keep boards current. Update Item, Update Item Name and Update Subitem change status, owner, dates and other columns. Move Item to Group and Group Position reorganize the board as work moves on, and Upload File to Specific Column attaches the file an item needs.
Clear out finished work. Archive Item, Archive Group and Archive Board tidy up, and Delete Item and Delete Group remove what is no longer needed. API Request (Beta) reaches the monday.com API for anything the standard actions do not cover.
The assistant works from your instructions. For anything that removes data, such as deleting or archiving items, groups or boards, it confirms with you before going ahead, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Finding and reading items never changes your boards.
When a job should run regularly, you can set up a Fabric AI job on a schedule, such as a Monday morning list of overdue items by owner. The connection also includes events, such as New Item in Board, Item Moved to Group and Any Column Value Changed in Board, which can start an automation when something changes on a board.
Connecting monday.com also adds keyword search over your boards from Fabric's main search, so an item is findable by matching text in the same place you search the rest of your library.
Project managers ask for every stuck or overdue item across a set of boards before the weekly status call.
Team leads paste the action items from a meeting and have them created as items with owners and due dates in one request.
Agency producers duplicate the standard setup item for a new client and post the brief from Fabric as an update. See how agencies compare tools in our guide to project management for agencies.
Anyone who keeps project docs in Fabric can turn a plan into a board without retyping it.
What does the monday.com connection do?
It lets Fabric's assistant find, read, create and update items, subitems, groups and boards in monday.com, post updates and upload files, and it adds keyword search over your boards in Fabric.
Can I create monday.com items from meeting notes?
Yes. Share the notes with the assistant and it creates an item or subitem for each action, with the owners, dates and statuses you mention.
Can the assistant update statuses and columns?
Yes. Update Item and Update Subitem change column values such as status, owner and due date, and Move Item to Group moves work between groups.
Can I get a status report from my boards?
Yes. Ask for what you care about, such as everything due this week or everything marked stuck, and the assistant reads the board and summarizes it.
Does the assistant change my boards on its own?
No. It acts on your instructions, and it confirms before deleting or archiving anything, unless you've told it not to for a specific task.
Can I automate monday.com updates?
Yes. A Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, for example a weekly summary or a recurring cleanup of finished items.
Is my monday.com data secure?
Everything in Fabric is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the connection acts on your boards with your authorization. The details are in the privacy and security guide and Fabric's privacy commitment.
Does this work through MCP or the API?
Fabric also exposes your library and connected tools to external AI through its MCP server and API. This connection is the built-in way to have Fabric's own assistant work with monday.com.
Does Fabric work with other project tools?
Yes. monday.com is one of many connections. You can also connect Asana, ClickUp, Trello and Slack.
