What is Brex?

Brex is a spend management platform for companies, combining corporate cards, business accounts, expenses, bill pay and budgets. Finance and operations teams use it to control who can spend what. Much of the work is administrative: issuing cards for new hires, adjusting limits, answering questions about a charge. This connection lets Fabric's assistant handle those tasks for you, in plain language.

What Fabric's assistant can do with Brex

Once Brex is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can answer spend questions and handle routine admin from a simple request.

Answer questions about spend. Get Card Transactions, Get Cash Transactions, List Expenses and List Cash Accounts pull activity, and Find a Card by ID, Find a User, Find User by Email, Find Vendor by Name, Find Department by Name and Find Location by Name fill in who and where. Ask what the team spent on software last month, or what a charge from a vendor was, and you get an answer without exporting a report.

Set people up and manage access. Create User adds a team member, Update User changes their details, Set User Limit adjusts their spending limit, and Disable User removes access when someone leaves. Create Card issues a card, and Email Card Details sends a card's details to the cardholder. These are the steps that usually sit in an onboarding or offboarding checklist.

Keep vendors and structure tidy. Create Vendor and Update Vendor by Name maintain vendors. Create Department, Create Location, Search or Create Department and Search or Create Location keep your company structure in step with reality.

Move money and manage budgets. Create Transfer starts a transfer from your Brex account. For Brex Empower customers, Get a Budget, Creates a Budget and Update a Budget manage budgets.

You stay in control

The assistant works from your instructions. For anything that moves money, issues a card, changes a limit or disables a user, it confirms with you before going ahead, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Looking up transactions never changes anything.

When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as a Monday summary of last week's card spend by department. The connection also includes events, such as Pending Card Transactions, Transfer Processed and Transfer Failed, which can start an automation when activity happens.

Search your spend from Fabric

Connecting Brex also adds keyword search over your Brex records from Fabric's main search, so a vendor or transaction is findable alongside the rest of your library.

What does the Brex connection do?

Can I check company spend with AI?

Yes. Ask about a period, vendor or department and the assistant pulls the transactions and summarizes them.

Can it offboard someone?

Yes. Disable User removes their access, after you confirm.

Is my Brex data secure?

Fabric also exposes your library and connected tools to external AI through its MCP server and API. This connection is the built-in way for Fabric's own assistant to work with Brex.
