What is Snowflake?

Snowflake is a cloud data platform where companies store and query their data with SQL, from sales and product data to finance reporting. Getting answers often means writing a query or asking someone who can. This connection lets Fabric's assistant query and update your tables for you, in plain language.

What Fabric's assistant can do with Snowflake

Once Snowflake is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can work with your data from a simple request.

Run SQL. Execute SQL runs a query you describe or paste, so you can ask for last month's signups by plan and get the result back in Fabric.

Find rows. Find Row looks up a row in a table by the values you give it.

Write data. Create Rows adds rows, Update Rows changes them, and Delete Rows removes them. Figures you collected in Fabric can go into a table in one request.

You stay in control

The assistant works from your instructions, and it confirms with you before adding, changing or deleting rows, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. It acts with the permissions of the Snowflake user you connect, so a read only role keeps it to reading.

When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as a weekly metrics query saved as a note. The connection also includes events, such as New Row, New or Updated Row, New Table, New View and New Column, which can start an automation.

Connecting Snowflake also adds keyword search over its records from Fabric's main search.
