What is QuickBooks Online?

QuickBooks Online is Intuit's cloud accounting software for small businesses. It handles invoicing, bills, expenses, payments, customers, vendors and the books behind them. Most of the effort is in the small, frequent jobs: raising an invoice, recording an expense, chasing what is unpaid. This connection lets Fabric's assistant handle those jobs for you, in plain language.

What Fabric's assistant can do with QuickBooks Online

Once QuickBooks Online is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can look things up and do routine bookkeeping from a simple request.

Get answers from your books. Find Invoice, Find Payment, Find Estimate, Find Sales Receipt, Find Purchase (Expense), Find Customer, Find Customer by Query, Find Vendor, Find Employee, Find Product, Find Products, Find Account and Find Class look things up, and Get Attachments retrieves the documents on a record. Ask whether a client has paid last month's invoice and you get the answer without opening QuickBooks.

Invoice and get paid. Create Invoice raises an invoice, Send Invoice emails it, and Update Invoice or Void Invoice correct one. Create Estimate and Send Estimate handle quotes, with Update Estimate for changes. Create Payment records money received, Create Sales Receipt and Send Sales Receipt cover payments taken on the spot, and Create Credit Memo and Create Refund Receipt handle credits and refunds.

Record what you spend. Create Expense and Update Purchase (Expense) log spending, Create Bill (Item Based) and Create Bill (Account Based) enter bills from suppliers, and Update Bill corrects one. Create Purchase Order, Create Vendor, Create Vendor Credit and Update Vendor manage the supplier side. Attach File(s) or Note keeps the receipt with the transaction.

Keep records and the ledger tidy. Create Customer, Update Customer, Create Product/Service and Update Product maintain your lists, with Find or Create actions for customers, vendors, employees, products and sales receipts to avoid duplicates. Create Deposit, Create Journal Entry, Create Employee and Create Time Activity cover the rest. API Request (Beta) reaches the QuickBooks API for anything else.

You stay in control

The assistant works from your instructions. For anything with financial impact, such as voiding an invoice or posting a journal entry, it confirms with you before going ahead, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Looking things up never changes your books.

When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as a Friday list of overdue invoices. The connection also includes events, such as New Invoice, New Paid Invoice, New Expense and New Bill, which can start an automation when something is recorded.

Search your books from Fabric

Connecting QuickBooks Online also adds keyword search over your records from Fabric's main search, so an invoice or customer is findable alongside the rest of your library.

Can it tell me who has not paid?

Does the assistant change my books on its own?

No. It acts on your instructions, and it confirms before steps with financial impact, unless you've told it not to for a specific task.

Can I automate invoice reminders?

A Fabric AI job can run on a schedule to find overdue invoices and send them again with Send Invoice.

Is my QuickBooks data secure?

Fabric also exposes your library and connected tools to external AI through its MCP server and API. This connection is the built-in way for Fabric's own assistant to work with QuickBooks Online.
