What is Microsoft To Do?

Microsoft To Do is Microsoft's task app, connected to Outlook and Microsoft 365. People use it to keep personal and work tasks in lists with due dates and reminders. Most tasks start in an email, a meeting or a note, and getting them into the list is the friction. This connection lets Fabric's assistant add and complete them for you, in plain language.

What Fabric's assistant can do with Microsoft To Do

Once Microsoft To Do is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can manage your lists from a simple request.

Capture tasks. Create Task adds a task with a due date to the list you choose, and Find or Create Task checks for an existing one first. Ask the assistant to pull the follow-ups from your meeting notes and add them to your work list.

Find and finish tasks. Find a Task looks up a task and Complete Task marks it done.

Organize lists. Create List starts a new list for a project. API Request (Beta) reaches the Microsoft Graph To Do API for anything else.

You stay in control

The assistant works from your instructions, and finding tasks never changes anything.

When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as adding a weekly review task every Friday. The connection also includes the events New Task, Completed Task, Updated Task and New List, which can start an automation.

Search your tasks from Fabric

Connecting Microsoft To Do also adds keyword search over your tasks from Fabric's main search. If you prefer to keep tasks in Fabric, see Fabric's own tasks and reminders.

How people use it

Microsoft 365 users turn the action items from a meeting into To Do tasks with due dates.

Busy professionals mark tasks complete by telling the assistant what they finished.

Project leads create a list for a new project and fill it from a plan in Fabric.
