What Fabric's assistant can do with Microsoft Teams

Once your Teams is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can act on your workspace from plain-language requests.

Find and read. Get a channel or chat by ID, get channel and chat messages, find team members, and find public channels, so you can pull the context you need without scrolling.

Handle messages. Send channel, chat, and bot messages, send a message with a card, reply to a channel message, edit and delete chat messages, and send an approval request and wait for the response, so responding and following up can be handed off.

Run channels and chats. Create channels and private channels, create a one-on-one chat, create a chat and send a message in one step, set your status, and update your profile, the everyday work of keeping a workspace running.

You describe what you want and the assistant maps it to the right Teams action or trigger.

You stay in control

The assistant acts only when you ask. For anything consequential, sending a message on your behalf, editing or deleting one, sending an approval request, it confirms with you before going ahead, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Finding and reading never post or change anything.

When something should happen regularly, you can set up a Fabric AI job that runs on a schedule, posting a recurring update, routing certain messages, sending an approval request when something needs sign-off, so the routine parts run themselves while you keep approval over anything that posts, edits, or deletes.

Search your Teams from Fabric

Alongside the assistant, connecting Teams adds keyword search over your workspace from Fabric's main search, so a message or chat you half-remember is findable by matching text in the same place you search the rest of your library, rather than scrolling back through channels.

No. Nothing that posts, edits, or deletes happens without your confirmation, unless you've chosen to let a specific task run without it.

Is my Teams data secure?

Does this work through MCP or the API?

Fabric also exposes your library and connected tools to external AI through its MCP server and API; this connection is the built-in way to have Fabric's own assistant work with your Teams.

Does Fabric work with other tools alongside Teams?
