Push rows and refresh datasets in Microsoft Power BI.
Powered by Zapier.
Microsoft Power BI is Microsoft's business intelligence platform for building reports and dashboards from your data, with sharing across Microsoft 365. This connection lets Fabric's assistant push data into Power BI datasets and refresh them, in plain language.
Once Microsoft Power BI is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can work with your datasets from a simple request.
Push data. Add Dataset Row adds a row to a push dataset, for example weekly figures you collected in Fabric, and Create Push Dataset sets up a new one.
Refresh datasets. Refresh Dataset updates a dataset so reports show the latest data.
List datasets. List Datasets shows what is in a workspace.
The assistant works from your instructions, and it confirms with you before adding rows or creating datasets, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Listing datasets never changes anything.
A Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as adding the week's numbers every Friday and refreshing the dataset.
Connecting Microsoft Power BI also adds keyword search over its records from Fabric's main search.
Analysts refresh a dataset before a meeting.
Operations teams push weekly figures into a dashboard.
Founders keep a metrics dashboard up to date from notes.
What does the Microsoft Power BI connection do?
It lets Fabric's assistant list datasets, create push datasets, add rows and refresh datasets, and it adds keyword search in Fabric.
Can I update a Power BI dataset with AI?
Yes. Add Dataset Row adds data, after you confirm.
Can it refresh a dataset?
Yes. Refresh Dataset starts a refresh.
Can it read report data?
Not with a dedicated action. Reports are viewed in Power BI.
Can it build reports?
No. Reports are built in Power BI.
Does the assistant change datasets on its own?
No. It acts on your instructions.
Is my data secure?
Everything in Fabric is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the connection acts on your account with your authorization. See the privacy and security guide.
Does Fabric work with other Microsoft tools?
Yes. You can also connect Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Outlook.
Fabric is an AI workspace for your projects, ideas, and files.
Save anything – PDFs, images, links, notes, voice memos, videos – and search across all of it by meaning, not just keywords. Think visually on an infinite canvas, connect your tools like Gmail, Google Drive, Notion, and Figma, and work alongside a personal AI assistant that knows your work, remembers your context, and gets smarter the more you use it.
Available on web, iOS, Android, and desktop.
