Run Hex projects, get charts and manage sharing.
Powered by Zapier.
Hex is a collaborative data workspace where analysts and data scientists combine SQL, Python, charts and AI in notebooks, then publish them as interactive apps. This connection lets Fabric's assistant run Hex projects, fetch results and manage sharing, in plain language.
Once Hex is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can work with Hex from a simple request.
Run projects. Run Project runs a published project, Get Run Status checks it, and Cancel Run stops it.
Get results. Get Chart Cell Image returns a chart as an image, so you can add it to a report in Fabric. The assistant can list and get projects and their runs.
Manage projects and sharing. It can create projects, update project status, share projects with users or groups, create groups, list users and create embed URLs.
The assistant works from your instructions, and it confirms with you before running projects or sharing them, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Looking things up never changes anything.
When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as running a metrics project every Monday and saving the chart to a note. The connection also includes the event New Project Run, which can start an automation.
Connecting Hex also adds keyword search over its records from Fabric's main search.
Data teams rerun an analysis after new data lands.
Product managers pull a chart into a product review doc.
Founders get a weekly metrics chart in Fabric.
What does the Hex connection do?
It lets Fabric's assistant run and cancel projects, check run status, get chart images, list and create projects, update status, and manage sharing and groups, and it adds keyword search in Fabric.
Can I run a Hex project with AI?
Yes. Run Project runs it, after you confirm.
Can it bring a chart into Fabric?
Yes. Get Chart Cell Image returns the chart.
Can it share a project?
Yes. It can share with users or groups, after you confirm.

Does Fabric work with other data tools?
Yes. You can also connect Google Sheets and Airtable.
