What is Apify?

Apify is a platform for web scraping and browser automation. Its store has thousands of ready made scrapers, called Actors, for sites such as Google Maps, Instagram and Amazon, and developers can build their own. Running Actors and collecting their results is the routine work. This connection lets Fabric's assistant do it for you, in plain language.

What Fabric's assistant can do with Apify

Once Apify is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can run scrapers and fetch the data from a simple request.

Run scrapers. Run Actor and Run Task start a scraper, and Run Actor and Fetch Results runs one and returns its data in one step. Ask for the reviews on a list of places, and the results come back to Fabric.

Fetch results. The assistant can fetch dataset items, read key value store records, and check runs by ID or find the last run.

Find Actors. Search Apify Store finds a ready made scraper, and Get Actor Details explains what it does.

Fetch a page. Web Fetch retrieves the content of a web page.

You stay in control

The assistant works from your instructions, and it confirms with you before starting runs that use your Apify credits, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Abort Actor Run stops a run. Fetching results never changes anything.

When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as a weekly scrape of competitor pricing. The connection also includes the events Finished Actor Run and Finished Task Run, which can start an automation.
