What is Algolia?

Algolia is a hosted search and discovery platform that powers search, filtering and recommendations on websites and apps. Developers and merchandisers manage indices of records, synonyms, query rules and settings. This connection lets Fabric's assistant search and manage your Algolia indices, in plain language.

What Fabric's assistant can do with Algolia

Once Algolia is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can work with Algolia from a simple request.

Search your indices. Search Index and Search Multiple Indices run queries, and the assistant can find, browse and fetch records, list indices, read index settings and get recommendations. Ask which products match a query and how they rank.

Add and update records. It can add, replace or partially update records, and index in batches, for example from a product list you keep in Fabric.

Tune relevance. It can find, save and delete synonyms and query rules, and update index settings.

Manage indices. It can copy or move an index, delete records by query, clear an index or delete it.

You stay in control

The assistant works from your instructions, and it confirms with you before deleting records, clearing or deleting an index, or changing settings that affect live search, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Searching never changes anything.

When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule, such as a weekly check of synonyms against new product names.
