What is Box?

Box is a cloud content management platform used by businesses to store, share and secure files, with collaboration, metadata, e-signatures through Box Sign, document generation and Box AI. This connection lets Fabric's assistant find, organize, share and ask questions about your Box content, in plain language.

What Fabric's assistant can do with Box

Once Box is connected, Fabric's AI assistant can work in Box from a simple request.

Find files and folders. Find a File and Find a Folder look things up, and the assistant can get file information, extracted text, classifications and collaborators.

Ask Box AI. Ask Box AI a Question on a File or on a Box Hub gets an answer from your content, and Extract Information From File With Box AI pulls fields such as dates or amounts out of a document.

Organize and share. The assistant can upload files, create text files and folders, move or copy files, add metadata and comments, create shared links, and add collaborators or tasks.

Administer Box. It can list and manage users and groups, metadata templates and Doc Gen templates, and list Box Sign requests. API Request (Beta) reaches the Box API for anything else.

You stay in control

The assistant works from your instructions, and it confirms with you before sharing content, adding collaborators, or deleting folders, users, groups or templates, unless you've told it not to for a particular task. Finding and reading never changes anything.

When a job should run regularly, a Fabric AI job can run on a schedule. The connection also includes events, such as New File, New Folder, New Comment and Task Assigned to You, which can start an automation.

Connecting Box also adds keyword search over your Box files from Fabric's main search.
