Last updated October 2026
If you have been looking into AI-powered dictation tools, Wispr Flow is likely on your shortlist. It has carved out a strong reputation for natural, context-aware voice typing across Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. But the pricing structure has changed several times over the past year, and finding a clear, up-to-date breakdown takes more effort than it should.
This page covers every Wispr Flow plan in detail: what each tier includes, what the real costs look like over time, and how it compares to alternatives such as Superwhisper, Otter.ai, Notta and Mac Dictation.
For a broader look at how Wispr Flow performs in practice, see our full Wispr Flow review. If you are weighing it against a specific competitor, we also have dedicated comparisons: Wispr Flow vs Superwhisper, Wispr Flow vs Mac Dictation, Wispr Flow vs Otter.ai and Wispr Flow vs Notta.
Wispr Flow pricing overview
The current plan structure
As of late 2026, Wispr Flow offers four main tiers: Free, Pro, Growth and Enterprise. The Free plan replaced the old "Flow Basic" branding earlier this year, and the Growth tier (formerly Enterprise) was introduced with public pricing after spending months behind a "Contact us" wall. There is also a Student plan that mirrors Pro features at a reduced rate.
How billing works. Wispr Flow charges per user, per month. Annual billing knocks roughly 20% off the monthly rate across all paid tiers. There is no lifetime licence option, which is worth noting if you are comparing against Superwhisper, which does offer one. Prices are set per currency, so switching your billing currency mid-subscription will cancel and restart the plan at the new currency's rate.
A note on recent changes. Wispr Flow removed its automatic 14-day Pro trial for new desktop signups in August 2026. New accounts now start directly on the Free plan. Some referral links may still extend a trial period, but this is no longer the default experience.
The Free plan
What you get at no cost
The Free tier gives you access to Wispr Flow's core dictation engine across all supported platforms: Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. You can dictate in over 100 languages, and the AI will format your speech into clean, punctuated text.
Desktop limits. On Mac and Windows, Free users are capped at 2,000 words per week. For light use, quick emails and the occasional paragraph, that is often enough. For anyone writing long-form content or dictating throughout the working day, it runs out fast.
Mobile limits. Both iOS and Android share a tighter cap of 1,000 words per week. Until September 2026, Android users had unlimited mobile dictation on the Free plan; that has since been brought in line with iOS.
Notetaker on the Free plan
Wispr Flow's Notetaker feature, which captures and summarises meeting audio, is available on Free but with meaningful limitations. Meeting notes are capped, speaker identification is basic, and export options are restricted. The Notetaker currently runs on Mac and Windows only; mobile support remains on the roadmap.
Who the Free plan suits
Occasional dictators. If you only use voice typing a few times a week for short pieces of text, the Free plan is a sensible starting point. It lets you evaluate Wispr Flow's accuracy and formatting intelligence before committing to a paid subscription.
Pro plan: monthly billing
Pricing and what is included
The Wispr Flow Pro plan billed monthly costs $15 per user, per month. This removes all word limits, giving you unlimited dictation on both desktop and mobile. You also gain access to higher Notetaker allowances, shared dictionaries, text snippets, workspace features, team analytics and priority support.
Early access to new features. Pro subscribers are first in line for beta features and updates. Given how rapidly Wispr Flow iterates on its product, this can be a meaningful perk if you want to stay on the leading edge.
The monthly cost in context
At $15 per month, Wispr Flow Pro sits in the middle of the dictation app market. It is more expensive than Superwhisper Pro monthly ($8.49) but cheaper than Otter.ai Pro monthly ($16.99). For a single user writing several thousand words a day, the cost per word is negligible. The question is whether the annual plan offers better value, which for most users it does.
Pro plan: annual billing
Pricing and savings
Billed annually, Wispr Flow Pro drops to $12 per user, per month ($144 per year). That is a 20% saving over monthly billing, or roughly $36 back in your pocket each year. The annual plan includes the same features as monthly Pro: unlimited dictation, enhanced Notetaker, shared workspace tools, team analytics and priority support.
Student pricing. Students with a verified .edu or university email can access Pro features for $7.50 per month, or $72 per year. Selected students may qualify for a fully free year. Educators reportedly receive a 50% discount on Pro as well.
Long-term cost projection
Because Wispr Flow does not offer a lifetime licence, the costs compound. Over three years, annual Pro billing totals $432. Over five years, it reaches $720. This is the primary trade-off with subscription-based dictation tools, and it is worth factoring into your decision if you plan to use voice typing for the long term. Superwhisper, by contrast, offers a $249.99 lifetime option that covers all future updates, making it the more economical choice over a multi-year horizon.
Growth and Enterprise tiers
Growth plan pricing
The Growth plan, which replaced the old Enterprise label, is now publicly priced at $18 per user, per month on annual billing ($23 monthly). It layers compliance and administration features on top of everything in Pro: SAML SSO, HIPAA enforcement with a signed Business Associate Agreement, multiple domain support and admin controls over model training and data retention.
Growth with Notetaker. For teams that rely heavily on meeting transcription, Wispr Flow offers a bundled Growth + Notetaker plan at $26 per user, per month on annual billing ($33 monthly). This includes unlimited Notetaker meetings, though it is worth noting that accounts with a signed BAA currently have the Notetaker disabled.
Enterprise plan
For organisations with 51 or more seats, Wispr Flow offers a custom Enterprise tier. This adds SCIM provisioning, audit logs, MDM support, free IT admin seats, contractual SLAs and purchase-order billing. Training is locked off by default. Pricing is negotiated directly with the sales team.
Dictation features by tier
Core dictation capabilities
All Wispr Flow plans, including Free, share the same underlying speech recognition engine. The AI analyses what you say, corrects filler words and reformats your speech into written prose with proper punctuation and paragraph breaks. Context Awareness, which reads on-screen text from your active application to match tone and terminology, is available across all tiers, though it is opt-in.
Voice commands and formatting. Wispr Flow supports voice commands for common formatting tasks: creating new lines, inserting punctuation, deleting text and more. These commands work on all plans. Pro and above also grant access to custom text snippets and shared dictionaries, which let you define shorthand that expands into longer phrases or technical terms.
What changes between Free and Pro
Word limits are the primary divider. The Free plan caps dictation at 2,000 words per week on desktop and 1,000 on mobile. Pro removes these limits entirely. For anyone who dictates more than a few paragraphs daily, this alone justifies the upgrade.
Notetaker depth. Pro users receive higher meeting-note allowances, speaker identification across meetings, the ability to query past meeting content, and export options to external AI tools via MCP. Free Notetaker access is functional but limited.
Workspace and collaboration. Pro unlocks shared dictionaries, text snippets, workspace management and team usage analytics. These features matter most for teams and organisations that want to standardise voice-typing workflows.
Language support
Over 100 languages on all plans
Wispr Flow supports dictation in more than 100 languages across all tiers, including Free. There is no paywall on language access. The AI handles multilingual dictation natively, so you can switch between languages mid-sentence without toggling a setting.
Accuracy across languages. Performance varies by language. English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Mandarin tend to produce the most reliable results. Less common languages may see lower accuracy, particularly with domain-specific vocabulary. This is consistent with the broader dictation market; Superwhisper claims a similar 100+ language range.
Platform availability
Wispr Flow runs on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. The Notetaker is currently limited to Mac and Windows. If mobile meeting transcription is a priority, you may want to consider Otter.ai or Notta, both of which offer mobile recording and transcription natively.
Hidden costs and considerations
Resource consumption
Wispr Flow's Context Awareness feature, which reads on-screen content to improve dictation quality, comes with a resource cost. User reports cite approximately 800 MB of RAM usage and around 8% CPU even when the app is idle. On older machines or devices with limited memory, this can affect performance noticeably. If you are running Wispr Flow alongside other heavy applications, this overhead is worth testing during the Free tier before committing.
Data and privacy defaults
Model training is on by default for Free and Pro accounts. Your voice data and transcriptions may be used to improve Wispr Flow's models unless you explicitly opt out. Training is disabled by default only for Enterprise and HIPAA-covered accounts. For professionals handling sensitive information, reviewing data-sharing preferences in the settings is essential, and the Growth plan offers more granular data storage and retention controls.
Notetaker add-on costs
The Notetaker is bundled with all plans at some level, but unlimited meeting notes require the Growth + Notetaker tier at $26 per user, per month (annual). For teams that assumed unlimited meetings came with Pro, this can feel like an unexpected cost. If meeting transcription is your primary use case rather than dictation, tools such as Otter.ai or Notta may offer a more cost-effective path, as their core product revolves around meeting capture.
No lifetime licence
Unlike Superwhisper, Wispr Flow does not sell a lifetime licence. Every plan is a recurring subscription. Over a five-year horizon, this makes Wispr Flow Pro roughly three times the cost of Superwhisper's one-time purchase. Whether that premium is justified depends on how much you value Wispr Flow's cross-platform support and Context Awareness features.
Wispr Flow vs competitors on pricing
Wispr Flow vs Superwhisper
Superwhisper is the closest direct competitor for individual dictation users. Its Pro plan costs $8.49 per month, $84.99 per year, or $249.99 for a lifetime licence. Wispr Flow Pro costs $12 per month on annual billing, with no lifetime option. Superwhisper runs local AI models for privacy-conscious users and offers a BYOK (bring your own key) option for cloud models. Wispr Flow relies on cloud processing but provides cross-platform support including Windows, iOS and Android, where Superwhisper is Mac-only. For a detailed breakdown, see our Wispr Flow vs Superwhisper comparison and our Superwhisper pricing page.
Wispr Flow vs Mac Dictation
Mac Dictation is free, built into macOS and requires no installation. It handles basic voice typing competently for short passages but lacks AI reformatting, context awareness and cross-application consistency. Wispr Flow's Free plan offers a more intelligent dictation experience, though Mac Dictation wins on simplicity and zero resource overhead. For users who only need occasional, short dictation on a Mac, the built-in option may be sufficient. Our Wispr Flow vs Mac Dictation guide explores this comparison in depth.
Wispr Flow vs Otter.ai
Otter.ai is primarily a meeting transcription tool rather than a general-purpose dictation engine. Its Pro plan costs $8.33 per month on annual billing ($16.99 monthly), with 1,200 transcription minutes per month. Otter.ai excels at recording and summarising meetings with speaker identification, but it does not offer the kind of in-app, real-time dictation that Wispr Flow provides. If your primary need is meeting notes, Otter.ai may be the better investment. If you need voice typing that works in any text field across your operating system, Wispr Flow is the stronger choice. See our Wispr Flow vs Otter.ai comparison for the full picture.
Wispr Flow vs Notta
Notta sits between Otter.ai and Wispr Flow in scope. Its Pro plan costs $8.17 per month on annual billing, with 1,800 transcription minutes per month. Notta supports 58 languages for transcription and offers live meeting recording via a bot that joins your calls. Like Otter.ai, its strength is meeting capture rather than system-wide dictation. Notta also charges extra for real-time translation ($6 to $10 per month as an add-on), which Wispr Flow handles natively through its multilingual dictation engine. For a side-by-side breakdown, see Wispr Flow vs Notta.
Pricing comparison table
The following gives a snapshot of annual-billing prices across the most commonly compared tools in this category. All figures are per user, per month.
Wispr Flow Pro: $12. Superwhisper Pro: $7.08 (or $249.99 lifetime). Otter.ai Pro: $8.33. Notta Pro: $8.17. Mac Dictation: free.
On price alone, Wispr Flow is the most expensive recurring option. Its value proposition rests on cross-platform dictation, context-aware formatting and the Notetaker feature, none of which the cheaper alternatives replicate in full.
Who is Wispr Flow best for?
Writers and content creators
If you produce long-form written content, blog posts, newsletters, documentation, scripts, or books, Wispr Flow Pro's unlimited dictation and intelligent reformatting can meaningfully accelerate your output. The Context Awareness feature adjusts tone based on the application you are working in, which reduces editing time. For more on this use case, see our guide to the best voice typing app for writers and the best dictation app for content creators.
Professionals who work across platforms
Wispr Flow is one of the few AI dictation tools that works across Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. If your workflow spans multiple devices and operating systems, this cross-platform consistency is a significant advantage over Mac-only tools like Superwhisper or the built-in Mac Dictation.
Teams with compliance requirements
The Growth plan's SAML SSO, HIPAA enforcement and data-retention controls make Wispr Flow a viable option for regulated industries. Healthcare, legal and financial teams that need a BAA or granular control over how voice data is stored and processed will find these features essential.
Who might look elsewhere
Budget-conscious individuals who want long-term value may prefer Superwhisper's lifetime licence. Meeting-first users whose primary need is recording and summarising calls may find better value in Otter.ai or Notta. Casual dictators who only need a few sentences at a time can likely get by with Mac Dictation at no cost. For a broader survey of options, see our roundup of the best voice-to-text app for Mac.
Is Wispr Flow worth it?
The case for paying
Wispr Flow Pro at $12 per month (annual) sits at a premium compared to most dictation tools, but it delivers a combination of features that no single competitor matches. Cross-platform support, context-aware formatting, a built-in Notetaker and a polished, system-wide dictation experience add up to a product that can replace multiple tools. If you dictate regularly and value accuracy over raw affordability, the Pro plan earns its price.
The ROI calculation is simple. If Wispr Flow saves you even 30 minutes of typing or editing per week, the $12 monthly cost pays for itself many times over in reclaimed time. For heavy dictators, the savings can run to several hours per week.
The case for caution
The subscription model means costs never stop. Over a multi-year period, Wispr Flow becomes one of the more expensive dictation options available. The removal of the free trial makes it harder to evaluate the Pro experience before paying. And the resource overhead (800 MB RAM, 8% CPU idle) is higher than most users expect from a dictation tool. Test the Free plan thoroughly before upgrading, and keep an eye on whether the word limits constrain your workflow.
The verdict
For most professionals who rely on voice typing daily, Wispr Flow Pro on annual billing represents good value. It is not the cheapest option, but it is among the most capable. The Growth and Enterprise tiers serve a clear purpose for teams with compliance needs, though the jump in price is steep for small organisations. Start with the Free plan, measure your word usage for a week, and upgrade only when the limits become a genuine constraint.
Storing and organising your transcripts with Fabric
A companion for voice-first workflows
Once you have generated transcripts and notes through Wispr Flow, you need somewhere to store, search and build on them. Fabric is a personal cloud and context layer designed for precisely this purpose. It offers AI voice notes with automatic transcription, which pairs naturally with a dictation-heavy workflow. Your transcripts, voice memos and meeting notes can live in Fabric's cloud drive, searchable and connected to the rest of your knowledge.
Pricing is accessible. Fabric offers a free tier, with paid plans at $8 per month on yearly billing or $10 per month on monthly billing. For anyone already investing in a dictation tool like Wispr Flow, adding Fabric as a storage and retrieval layer is a modest incremental cost. You can learn more about Fabric's approach to privacy and data handling on the environment page.
