A private, single-page application tracker is the most useful first website for the current situation. It helps manage job applications immediately, needs no hosting account or paid service to try, and can be expanded later into a portfolio or job-search toolkit.

What works in this first version

  • Add, edit, and delete job applications.

  • Track company, role, job-posting URL, deadline, status, next action, and notes.

  • Search applications and filter by status.

  • View simple totals for active applications, interviews, and offers.

  • Keep data in this browser using localStorage.

  • Export a backup as JSON and import it on the same or another browser.

  • Responsive layout for phone and desktop.

Important limits

This is a working local prototype, not a hosted public website. Application information stays in the browser profile on the device where it is entered. It does not sync across devices, create accounts, or transmit data to a server. Export a backup regularly. Do not store passwords or sensitive personal information in the notes field.

Run it

  1. Copy the complete code below into a plain-text editor.

  1. Save it as index.html (ensure the extension is .html, not .txt).

  1. Open the file in a current browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.

  1. Add a test application, edit it, refresh the page, and confirm it remains saved.

  1. Use Export backup to download a JSON copy. Test Import backup with that file if needed.

  • Replace the sample labels or colors if desired.

  • Export a backup after entering real information.

  • If you want the tracker available on multiple devices, choose a hosting and secure data-storage approach before adding private data.

The current version has no external service integrations and needs no API keys. The code has not been run in the user's browser from this chat, so complete the local smoke test above before relying on it for important records.
