Comment retranscrire une réunion

Taking notes and taking part in a meeting compete for the same attention. If you’re running a client call, interviewing a candidate, or presenting to your team, the notes come out thin, and the detail you needed (the exact number a client agreed to, the reason a deadline moved) is the part that didn’t get written down.
This page covers the usual ways people transcribe meetings, what each one involves, and how to transcribe online and in-person meetings with Fabric, including taking notes alongside the transcript and getting a write-up when the meeting ends.
How people usually transcribe meetings
The video platforms have their own options. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet can record and transcribe calls, with the details depending on your account type and on whether the host or an admin has turned the feature on. When it’s available, it’s the least effort. The transcript lands in that platform, though, so a team using Zoom with clients and Teams internally ends up with transcripts in two places, and calls you joined as a guest may not give you a copy at all.
Note-taking services such as Otter, Fireflies, and Fathom work across platforms by sending a bot into the call as a participant. They produce transcripts and summaries, and many teams rely on them. The bot does show up in the participant list, and some guests, particularly external ones, ask about it or ask for it to be removed.
The fallback is typing notes during the call and tidying them afterward, or recording on a phone and transcribing later. Both work, and both leave the transcript disconnected from whatever notes you took at the time.
Step 1: Install the Fabric desktop app
Online meeting transcription runs through the Fabric desktop app for Mac, Windows, or Linux. Recording and transcribing meetings needs a paid plan; transcription isn’t part of the free plan, and the pricing page lists what’s included in each.
Before relying on any transcription tool, check what the people in the meeting expect. Telling participants at the start that you’re transcribing is good practice, and recording rules vary by country and state.
Step 2: Start the call and begin transcribing
Start or join a call in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet as usual. With the desktop app running, Fabric detects the meeting and offers to start transcribing. Accept, and the meeting note begins. No bot joins the call, so the participant list stays as it was. How to take meeting notes without a bot joining the call goes into this setup further.
For a meeting in a room, a site visit, or a conversation over coffee, start a voice or meeting note manually in any Fabric app. The phone app suits this, and it’s on the mobile download page. How to record and transcribe an in-person meeting covers that case in more detail.
Step 3: Take notes and ask questions during the meeting
The transcript appears in real time as people talk. You can write notes in the same meeting note before the call (an agenda, the questions you want answered) and keep adding to them during it. Since the transcript is capturing every word, your notes can stick to the things only you know: what to follow up, what seemed off, who to loop in.
While the meeting is still going, you can search the transcript and ask the AI questions about it. If someone joins late and asks what was agreed on pricing, or you lose track of a figure mentioned ten minutes ago, ask and check the answer without interrupting the call. It helps after a distraction too: if you had to answer a message for a few minutes, ask for a recap of what was said while your attention was elsewhere.
Step 4: Read the write-up when the meeting ends
When the meeting ends, Fabric analyzes your notes and the transcript together and produces a write-up of the meeting. Because your typed notes go into it, the write-up reflects what you thought mattered as well as what was said. How to turn meeting notes into action items automatically covers the follow-up step.
The transcript can be edited if a name or term came out wrong. To send the write-up to colleagues, share it with them as viewers, commenters, or editors through Fabric’s collaboration features.
Step 5: Search and question past meetings
Each meeting becomes searchable. Press Cmd+F (Mac) / Ctrl+F (Windows) and search for what was said; results open at the timestamp. How to find something someone said in a meeting has more on this.
Keep a client’s or project’s meetings in one folder, then open the AI assistant in that folder and ask “what has this client said about the launch date across our last five calls?” Answers cite each meeting with timestamps. Over time this becomes a meeting knowledge base for the team.
Frequently asked questions
How can I transcribe a Zoom meeting without a bot?
Install the Fabric desktop app. It detects Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet calls and offers to transcribe them, with no bot joining the call.
Can I transcribe an in-person meeting?
Yes. Start a voice or meeting note manually in any Fabric app, such as the phone app on the table, and you get the same write-up when you stop.
Do I need to be the host to transcribe a meeting with Fabric?
Fabric detects the meeting through the desktop app on your computer, so it doesn’t rely on the host turning on the platform’s transcription. Let participants know you’re transcribing.
Does meeting transcription in Fabric need a paid plan?
Yes. Transcription, including meetings and voice notes, isn’t included on the free plan.
Can I see the transcript while the meeting is happening?
Yes. The transcript appears in real time, and you can search it or ask the AI questions about it during the call.
Can I add my own notes to the meeting transcript?
Yes. Write notes before or during the meeting. When it ends, Fabric uses your notes and the transcript together to write it up.
Can I share a meeting transcript with people outside my company?
Yes. Share the meeting note with them as a viewer, commenter, or editor. External people can open shared links without signing up for Fabric.
How do I find what someone said in a past meeting?
Search for it in Fabric. Results from meeting transcripts open at the exact timestamp.
Can AI answer questions across all my meetings?
Yes. Put the meetings in a folder and open the AI assistant there, or right-click the folder and add it to the assistant’s context. Answers cite the meetings and timestamps they came from.
