How to organize saved posts automatically

Saving a post takes one tap, which is why the saved lists grow so long. A thread on hiring engineers sits in X bookmarks, a LinkedIn post about pricing in LinkedIn’s saved items, a Reddit discussion on home espresso machines in Reddit’s saved tab, and a carousel of design tips in an Instagram collection. Each app keeps its own pile, sorted by the date you saved, and the topic you care about is split across all four.

This guide covers how people usually keep track of saved posts, where that gets hard, and how to route posts from every platform into Fabric so they’re described and grouped by subject automatically.

How people usually manage saved posts

The built-in save button is the starting point for most people. It’s fast and private, and the post is there next time you open the app. Finding it again usually means scrolling the saved list, since the list is ordered by when you saved rather than by what the post was about. Instagram collections and X bookmark folders help if you sort at the moment you save, which is the moment you’re least likely to stop and do it.

Screenshots are the other common habit. They capture the post exactly as it looked and work across every app. A few months later they’re mixed into the camera roll with everything else, and finding the one about remote team rituals means scrolling through images.

Some people copy links into a notes app or a spreadsheet with a column for the topic. That gives one list across platforms, at the cost of a manual step for each post, and the list rarely includes the text of the post itself. The article bookmarking vs. saving looks at why a link on its own often isn’t enough.

Step 1: Send posts to Fabric from wherever you see them

On your phone, tap Share on a post and choose Fabric. The share sheet in the Fabric mobile app works from any app that can share a link, so X, LinkedIn, Reddit and Instagram all go to the same place. You can add a comment or tags as you save, such as a note on why the post caught your eye.

On a computer, paste a post’s link into Fabric and it’s saved as a bookmark, with the page kept for reading and search. The browser extension for Chrome, Safari and Firefox can also save the whole page, a screenshot of it, or just the text you select, which suits a long Reddit thread where only one reply matters.

If screenshots are still your habit, Fabric can import screenshots from iOS and Android automatically. Text and visual content in those screenshots become searchable once they’re in.

Step 2: Let Fabric describe each post

Each saved post is processed on arrival. Fabric creates embeddings so search can match it by meaning, writes a short summary, extracts attributes such as the content type and the concepts the post discusses, and suggests tags. A long LinkedIn post about running a first sales hire might be summarized in a line, with tags suggested for sales and hiring.

Saved pages open in reader mode, which strips ads and clutter, so a thread you saved weeks ago is easy to read through when you come back to it.

Step 3: Group posts by topic with smart collections

Set up a smart collection for each theme you save posts about: product launches, career advice, recipes, design inspiration, a hobby. Collections fill themselves based on content, so a Reddit thread and an Instagram post on the same subject end up side by side, whichever platform they came from.

Collections can hold more than posts. A collection on remote work could gather saved posts, an article, a podcast transcript and your own notes on the subject. How to save everything you find online in one place covers the wider capture habit if you want to bring other sources in too.

Step 4: Find posts by topic or by similarity

Press Cmd+F (Mac) / Ctrl+F (Windows) and describe what the post was about. Fabric search reads the saved page text, so “that thread comparing standing desks” can find it without the author’s handle. Filter by kind of item to see only bookmarks, or by tag.

Found one good post and want the others like it? Select it and run a similarity search. Fabric returns saved items close in meaning, including ones from other platforms and other formats.

Step 5: Ask the AI to pull a topic together

Open a folder or collection and ask the AI assistant something like “what advice do these posts give about pricing a first product?” It answers from the saved posts in that folder and cites each one, so you can click through to the original. Save the answer as a note to keep a running digest of what you’ve collected on that subject.

If a team is collecting posts together, for example competitor announcements or customer feedback spotted on Reddit, share the folder with colleagues as editors so they can add their own saves. Each post they save is summarized and given suggested tags on arrival, the same as yours, so the shared folder stays searchable by topic.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save X, LinkedIn or Reddit posts to one place?

Share each post to Fabric from your phone’s share sheet, paste the link into Fabric, or save it with the browser extension. Every route ends in the same library.

Can I save Instagram posts to Fabric?

Yes. Share the post to Fabric from the Instagram app, or paste its link. Instagram Reels can also be transcribed from the link on a paid plan.

Does Fabric keep the text of the post?

When you save a link, the page is saved for reading and search. The extension can also save selected text or a screenshot of the page.

Do I need to sort posts into folders?

No. Fabric summarizes each post and suggests tags, smart collections you set up fill themselves from that, and search reads the saved text whether or not it’s filed.

Can I search my saved posts by topic?

Yes. Search matches by meaning as well as keywords, so describing the topic is enough.

Can I organize screenshots of posts?

Yes. Screenshots can be imported automatically from iOS and Android, and the text and visual content in them are searchable.

Can I add my own notes to a saved post?

Yes. Add a comment or tags when you save it, or later from the item itself.

Is saving posts free?

The reader, notes and file uploads are on the free plan, which has limited AI use. Transcription and connections need a paid plan; see pricing for details.
